Arrive & Depart At Any Time
A Typical Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Barcelona and we will be waiting to take you to the hotel. Check in and relax or explore the wonderful medieval town of Girona. You can pick up your bicycle the day you arrive, located a few hundred meters from a number of great hotels that we use.
Day 2
60km total distance
We have some amazing gravel rides and the one we suggest for your first day makes use of the extensive network of cycle paths and gravel tracks in the mostly flat area to the south of Girona. This easy loop heads through the farmland and passes the Medieval castle at Brunyola, you can walk inside an authentic Catalan castle, ascend to its north tower and enjoy here magnificent view, as well as the Volc de la Crosa prehistoric Volcano.
Day 3
90km total distance
The county of Empordá is located to the north of Girona, famous for wine and olive oil production and it is one of the most beautiful landscapes. Dotted with hilltop stone villages, there are many places you can stop for a well earned coffee. This ride includes the village of Verges as its suggested coffee stop. The ride then returns by crossing over the Las Gavarres mountains which is also a nature reserve. There are low hills but steep and short climbs giving yet another view of the region, followed by a decent back to the Girona side and a short spin into town on the greenways cycle path.
Day 4
63km total distance
This route uses the Routa del Ter cycle route that follows the river Ter, one of the largest and longest rivers in the area as it extends from the Pyrenees all the way to the Mediterranean sea. After leaving the river the route passes through the county of Empordá before entering the mountains of the Las Gavarres nature reserve. The ride then visits the famous Als Angels monastery where coffee can be found, then passes through the mountains to the ruined castle of Sant Miquel, which offers one of the best panoramic views of the area and is only accessible by gravel trail. The ride then descends directly back into the city.
From here, we will provide you with a return airport transfer or alternatively, you can extend your trip to enjoy more gravel cycling in the area.
Day 5
90km total distance
This is the gravel version of the now very well known and famous coastal ride to Sant Grau. The ride takes advantage of the 120km long graded cycle path to visit the coast, along the incredible coastal road. You'll ride past fishing villages, and avoid cars and traffic all the way down to the sea.
Day 6
Today you will be transferred back to the airport for your return flight home.
