I had the best experience booking through Love Velo. Phil and Tom worked over the Christmas break to organise a super last minute trip for me. The hotel was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at - they upgraded my room for free. The bike rental were super accommodating and was located right next to the hotel. The routes were great - took the stress out of planning them. Airport transfer was same- easy and no stress. Calpe is also amazing! Just book it. Thanks again guys!

What Are the Best Regions for Cycling Tours in Spain?

The best regions for bike tours in Spain include Calpe, known for its smooth roads and coastal climbs, and Girona, a favourite for its quiet countryside and challenging ascents. Andalusia offers rolling hills, whitewashed villages and rich culture whilst the legendary climbs of Mallorca and Tenerife bring cyclists to the islands from all around the globe.

Where to go on a Cycling Tour in Spain

Home to some of the most varied cycling on the continent, a cycling tour in Spain will leave you spoiled for choice. Mallorca is ideal for climbers and experienced road cyclists. It's on of the most popular places for a bike tour in Europe and you can take on legendary climbs such as Sa Calobra and the snaking road to the Cap Formentor lighthouse. A Girona bike tour offers great cycling and is home to many pro teams, as well as some of the best gastronomy Spain has to offer. For electric bike tours in Spain, Andalusia offers cycling through orange groves, walled cities, all under Mediterranean blue skies.

The Best Cycling in Spain

Spain is always a top pick for our cyclists as it mixes great cycling, tough climbs, scenic coastal rides and stunning cities. Dive into one of our favorite cycling paradises:

Mallorca Cycling Holidays

Mallorca is perfect for a 4–5 day cycling holiday if you prefer to stay in a single base and ride out on different routes each day. If you’d like to explore more of the island point-to-point, extending your trip a little longer gives you time to cover the variety of landscapes and coastal roads without rushing. The beauty of Mallorca is its versatility for all cyclists. Beginners can explore the flatlands and quiet country lanes, families can enjoy safe, scenic rides, and experienced riders can challenge themselves on the mountains. This variety makes the island a cycling paradise suitable for every type of rider.

For road cycling, the north of the island, particularly Port de Pollensa is the ideal hub. From here you get direct access to Mallorca’s most famous climbs in the Tramuntana mountains, along with gentle flat rides through orange groves and vineyards. For those who prefer a touring style, staying in rustic fincas offers the chance to discover small towns and immerse yourself in the island’s slower rhythm.

One of Mallorca’s most iconic rides is the road to Cap de Formentor lighthouse. Our insider tip is to check the seasonal access restrictions at certain times motor vehicles are banned, leaving the road entirely to cyclists for an unforgettable and peaceful ride to the lighthouse.

Whilst most riders know about Cap Formentor, Sa Calobra and the main climbs, a hidden gem is the Coll de Randa climb, a manageable 5km ascent in the heart of the island. At the top lies a 13th century monastery which rewards you with breathtaking views across the island, making it a memorable cultural and scenic stop. Check out our guide to the best cycling routes in Mallorca if you're planning your next trip to Mallorca.

Cycling Tours in Girona

Bike tours in Girona is best enjoyed over 4–5 days, giving you enough time to experience the city’s charm and the surrounding cycling routes. The medieval old town makes a perfect base, and spring or fall is the ideal time to visit, when the streets are alive with cyclists from around the world.

No Girona cycling holiday trip is complete without tackling Rocacorba, a climb made famous by the pros, that rewards you with sweeping views across the Catalan countryside. Another must-do is the ride up Els Àngels. Our insider tip is to summit the climb on the road and then turn left if you're coming from Girona on to the unpaved road at the summit. You'll reach the Santuari dels Àngels monastery, where the café and terrace provide panoramic views of Girona, the Pyrenees, and the sea.

Girona is particularly well-suited to experienced cyclists looking for challenging routes but it also offers excellent touring opportunities. You can ride inland to Olot through volcanic landscapes, or head to the Costa Brava coast and reward yourself with fresh seafood tapas in towns like Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

Bike Tours The Canaries

The Canary Islands are a truly unique cycling destination, perfect for escaping to some winter sun. Known as the “Island of Eternal Spring,” the climate in Tenerife stays temperate year-round, making it an ideal option when the rest of Europe is too cold to ride.

These islands are made for road cyclists, especially climbers. Expect only epic ascents and exhilarating descents, fitness is a must here. Mount Teide is the star attraction of Tenerife bike tours, but don’t miss the legendary ride from the wild northern coast at Buenavista del Norte, through banana plantations, up the brutal Masca wall.

An insider tip for when you do decide to tackle Mt. Teide is to take the western ascent via Adeje, a quieter route compared to the popular Vilaflor side. When planning, avoid Christmas and New Year, many hotels charge compulsory gala dinner fees, even if you don’t attend. The pricing falls dramatically just after the new year so it's the perfect time to ride. For more hints and tips, read our ultimate guide to road cycling in Tenerife.

We’re Canarian experts, so if you’d like to combine Tenerife with Gran Canaria or Lanzarote for a multi-island cycling adventure, we can help make it happen.

Cycling in The Costa Blanca

Cycling trips in Calpe are one of our absolute favorite cycling destinations in Spain and arguably the best bike tours Spain has to offer.

Spend a week on a self guided adventure, conquering iconic climbs like the Coll de Rates and exploring the very best this stunning region has to offer. It's become a must visit destination for the pros and the advantage it has over places like Girona is that you can combine climbing with coastal riding. There's no better way to enjoy a Spain bike tour than by riding the mountains in the morning and paddling your feel in the Med in the afternoon.

Cycling Holidays in Andalusia

Andalusia bike tours are the perfect way to explore one of Spain’s most diverse and captivating regions. Ride through rolling olive groves, whitewashed hilltop villages, and dramatic mountain landscapes, all under the warm southern sun. From the vibrant culture of Seville and Granada to the quiet charm of rural Andalusia, cycling here combines challenging climbs, scenic descents, and incredible food and wine. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely ride or a more adventurous escape, bike tours in Andalusia offer an unforgettable mix of history, culture, and world-class cycling.
