Your Day by Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 – Discover Dijon, the City of the Dukes

Step into Dijon and step back in time. You’ll wander through winding lanes lined with timber-framed houses, and spot the glazed-tile rooftops that make Burgundy’s architecture so instantly recognisable. This city’s history lives in every corner – from grand mansions once home to nobility to the stately Ducal Palace, now proudly housing the Fine Arts Museum. Whether you’re soaking up the atmosphere or snapping photos of the intricate details, Dijon is a vibrant start to your journey.

  2. Day 2 - Dijon to Beaune

    49km total distance

Saddle up and ride straight into the magic of the Côte de Nuits. This is Burgundy at its most iconic – endless rows of vines, charming villages that seem frozen in time, and elegant châteaux built from rosy-hued stone. You’ll trace your way along peaceful bike paths that weave through some of the world’s most legendary vineyards – Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Clos de Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges. Each name is steeped in history, each turn offering a new postcard-perfect view. Your day ends in Beaune, a jewel of a town where art and heritage go hand in hand. Don’t miss the world-famous Hôtel-Dieu, with its dazzling tiled roof and centuries of stories.

  3. Day 3 – Escape into the Côte de Beaune

    59km total distance

Today, you’ll veer off the well-trodden path and dive deeper into Burgundy’s hidden gems. Swap the smooth cycleways for quiet country roads and find yourself pedalling through the beating heart of the Côte de Beaune. It’s a bit of a climb, but every metre gained rewards you with views that will take your breath away. Don’t miss the Château de la Rochepot – it’s straight out of a fairytale, with colourful tiles and dramatic towers. After soaking that in, roll into the characterful village of Nolay before looping back to Beaune on a mix of scenic trails and gentle roads. This is the kind of ride that stays with you.

  4. Day 4 – Vineyards and Waterways to Chalon-sur-Saône

    47km total distance

Roll out of Beaune and onto the Greenway, gliding through some of Burgundy’s most iconic wine territory. Pommard, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet – these are more than names, they’re legends. You’ll cruise past vine-covered slopes, where every twist in the road invites you to stop, explore, and maybe even sample a glass. Trust us – visiting at least one of these villages is an absolute must. After Chagny, the landscape shifts and you’ll find yourself pedalling beside the peaceful Canal du Centre, following the water’s edge all the way to Chalon-sur-Saône. A perfectly balanced day of cycling, scenery, and a dash of indulgence.

  5. Day 5 – A Journey Through Mercurey and the Côte Chalonnaise

    48km total distance

Start your day tracing the calm waters of the Canal du Centre before heading inland to discover the quiet charm of Rully. Its château stands proudly among the vines, offering a postcard-worthy backdrop to your ride. From here, you’ll glide through the famed vineyards of Mercurey, soaking in the serenity of the Côte Chalonnaise. With every pedal stroke, the countryside becomes more captivating. The ride brings you to Givry, a small town bursting with character, before looping back to Chalon on a peaceful, vine-fringed cycle path. It’s a day full of classic Burgundy beauty – and plenty of reasons to stop and savour the view.

  6. Day 7 - Departure

We can provide airport transfers or simply make your way back to Beaune train station for your onward journey.
