Your Day by Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Touch Down in Bled

Welcome to Bled – a jaw-dropping alpine gem that feels like it’s straight out of a fairytale. Imagine a glistening lake, a lone church on an island, and a medieval castle keeping watch from the cliffs. Take a traditional boat out to the church, hike to the Mala Osojnica viewpoint, and soak in the postcard-perfect views of the Karavanke Alps. It’s the perfect start to your Slovenian cycling adventure.

  2. Day 2 - Bled to Bohinj Valley

    27km total distance

Hop in the van for a lift to Pokljuka plateau, then it's wheels down for a stunning descent into the Bohinj Valley. This is Slovenia’s wild side – all towering peaks, tranquil alpine villages, and the glassy depths of Lake Bohinj. Ride to Savica Waterfall, the birthplace of the Sava River, and take a cable car up to Vogel Mountain for sweeping views. Wrap it all up with honey brandy and local stories in a cosy village pub.

  3. Day 3 - Bohinj to Škofja Loka

    49km total distance

Tackle the climb to the Jelovica Plateau (a lift’s available if you fancy a break!) and coast down through deep forests and quiet valleys. Discover the art and history of Sorica and Železniki – from classic Slovene paintings to centuries-old furnaces. Roll into Škofja Loka, a medieval masterpiece packed with cobbled streets and castle views.

  4. Day 4 - Škofja Loka to Ljubljana

    31km total distance

Roll into Slovenia’s lively little capital! Cycle the leafy banks of the Ljubljanica River, sip coffee under fairy lights, or climb up to Ljubljana Castle for a bird’s-eye view of the city. There’s history, charm, and heaps of character here – perfect for a relaxed afternoon and an unforgettable evening.

  5. Day 5 - Ljubljana to Vrhnika

    41km total distance

Ride through the Ljubljansko Barje, a sprawling marshland that’s home to rare birds and ancient secrets. Cool off in a karst lake, explore Slovenia’s highest railway viaduct, and check out President Tito’s car collection in Bistra Castle. A chilled-out day filled with unexpected discoveries.

  6. Day 6 - Vrhnika to Postojna

    43km total distance

Ride off the beaten track and into Slovenia’s storybook countryside. Optional detour? Predjama Castle – a jaw-dropping fortress wedged into a cliff, home to the mischievous knight Erasmus. Rumour has it he threw cherries at his enemies from a secret cave exit.

  7. Day 7 - Postojna to Štanjel Area

    32km total distance

Step into a subterranean wonderland at Postojna Cave – a 21km maze of glowing stalactites, towering chambers, and bizarre ‘human fish’. Then it’s back on the bike, pedalling into the vineyards of the Vipava region. Welcome to Slovenia’s wine country.

  8. Day 8 - Štanjel Area to Divača via Lipica

    50km total distance

First stop: Sežana’s lush botanical gardens. Then it’s on to the world-famous Lipica Stud Farm – home of the dazzling white Lipizzaner horses. Take a carriage ride or get up close in the stables. Got time? Pop into the quirky War Museum hidden in a Venetian tower.
